Delhi School Admission:New guidelines have been released for the admission

New guidelines have been released for the admission of this class in Delhi. Find out what changes have been made.

New rules have been implemented for school admissions in Delhi for the academic year 2024-25. As per the new regulations, the ‘No Detention Policy’ has been abolished, which will affect the admission process for class sixth. There will be changes in the way students are admitted to this class.

The Delhi Education Directorate has issued guidelines on the admission process for the 2024-25 session that will commence in April 2024 in Delhi schools.

That’s interesting information. It seems like the Delhi Education Directorate has made some changes to the admission process for the upcoming academic session. Now, students who are aged between 10 to 12 years and have not studied from a recognized school till class 5 can apply for admission in class 6 under the Right to Education Act. It’ll be interesting to see how this new guideline will impact the admission process in Delhi schools.

Delhi School Admission rules for class nursery to class 5 and class 7 and 8 remain unchanged. No new process implemented. Admission will be done accordingly.

Under this scheme, students from feeder schools (municipal corporation schools, government-aided schools, private schools) will have the opportunity to enrol in the nearest parent schools.

Instructions have been given to establish a connection between feeder schools and parent schools under the Directorate of Education. Parents of Class V students from all feeder schools are required to meet the principals of parent schools for the admission of their children, starting from April 1, 2024. Documents such as a passport-size photograph of the student, proof of residence in Delhi, optional Aadhaar number (with proof), optional bank account number (with proof), and caste certificate/disability certificate (if applicable) will be required for admission to the class.

As per the circular, all feeder schools are mandated to provide information on the module by February 12. The process of mapping and linking feeder schools is expected to be completed by February 19. Nursery admissions in private schools are based on a point system, with various criteria assigned specific marks. The most commonly used criteria include neighborhood/distance, siblings, and alumni. Some schools also allocate points for firstborns, girl children, and single parents. The criteria and point details will be uploaded on November 20. (Delhi School Admission)

As per the guidelines, all private unaided recognized schools that admit students at the pre-school, pre-primary, and/or Class 1 levels are required to reserve 25% of their seats for students from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)/Disadvantaged Group (DG) category. Moreover, these schools have been instructed to upload their admission criteria on the Directorate’s website – edudel.nic.in by November 20, 2023. (Delhi School Admission)

Furthermore, parents need not purchase a school prospectus along with the application form, as it is not mandatory. Schools are prohibited from pressuring parents to acquire a prospectus or imposing any processing fees. The only acceptable fee from parents is a non-refundable admission registration fee of Rs. 25.
